Surface Tension & Capillary Action

Buoyancy and Floatation

Surface Tension
Surface tension occurs at the interface of the liquid and a gas or at the interface of two liquids.
Surface tension (σ) is inversely proportional to temperature.
It acts when fluid is at rest.
It is a surface phenomenon.

Non-Newtonian Fluids

Buoyancy and Floatation

Types of Fluid
Newtonian Fluid
Non-Newtonian Fluid
Non- Newtonian Fluids
These types of fluids do not obey Newton’s Law of viscosity. The relation between Shear Stress and Velocity gradient is given by the following formula-

Introduction to Thermodynamics definition

Buoyancy and Floatation

A combination of two words, (THERM = HEAT & DYNAMICS = MOTION).
Thermodynamics is the branch of physics which deals with energy change involving all types of chemical and physical changes.
In thermodynamics, we basically deal with the macroscopic bodies or systems i.e., an assembly of a larger number of molecules so that it has certain values of pressure, volume, temperature.
